Who We Are

About Us

The Anti-Drug & Alcohol Crusaders, Inc. (ADAC) is a non-profit, faith-based organization that has been in operation since 1987 delivering substance misuse and youth violence prevention curricula for its “out-of-school time” (OST) program to youth ages 5-18 and their families in Philadelphia. ADAC is a community staple that provides a myriad of programs for children and youth who are at high-risk for low graduation rates, substance abuse, and violence. ADAC offers children, youth, and families healthy alternatives to substance use, violence, and other negative behaviors, positive affirmations to build internal protective factors, and education enrichment to increase school retention and high school graduation rates. Additionally, ADAC provides mentoring and opportunities to develop skills for economic advancement through employment and training for youth ages 14-21, volunteer opportunities, and partnering with local workforce development centers. Finally, ADAC extends the reach of our work through our school-based prevention initiative.

Our
Mission & Values

ADAC’s mission is to nurture youth and their families, physically, emotionally and socially, through an array of educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs that support growth, strong family ties, and positive community networks.

ADAC’s vision and purpose is to break the cycle of trauma and pain from addictions, violence, and other unhealthy behaviors to maximize our youths’ opportunities to make positive choices and become respectful, productive, and contributing members of their families, communities, and society. ADAC’s purpose is to provide children and youth with the necessary tools and information to avoid certain social, economic, and educational pitfalls, while preparing them for a higher education and the skills needed for gainful employment.

ADAC has two overarching goals that increase the support systems of psychosocial factors that affect the daily functioning of children, youth, families, and communities. Goal 1: Provide a nurturing environment that promotes resiliency and recovery from traumatic experiences and build self-confidence and self-esteem. Goal 2: Support 21st century skills development through an array of information and resources and engaging participants in a wide variety of fun-filled educational and recreational events and activities.
